After recording footsteps in the Peak District I have finally edited, cleaned and bounced the individual footsteps into an organised folder in which I can access as of when needed for any particular game that requires a certain material. Initially there was 13 different materials that I had recorded, although 1 (as of which was the metal grid) was beyond salvageable due to the nature of the recording. The day I recorded was very windy with many other world noises interfering, and I had not at the time purchased a deadcat for my recorder. After this instance of having to clean the footsteps so much I decided to purchase a zoom wsu-1 (deadcat) to try and avoid as much as possible the chance of a interrupted recording. I used various gain based effects to clean up the recording such as equalisation, noise gates and RX elements. RX elements really did work great for removing world noises such as planes and other interferences. The gate helped blockade some of the noises below a certain threshold that was of no use to the recording, and equalisation helped to add some warmth and timbre back into the sound that may have been diminished by the clean up.

These samples were then bounced into their designated folders after I was happy with how they sounded. Each sample had its own unique editing process (some desiring harsher editing techniques than others). I am happy with how they are sounding now and I now have my own sample bank of footsteps to choose from as of when are needed.
