So as i enter my second year at University, a new additional module has been added that really interests me.. which is Sound Design. This had me thinking about the amount of sound design i have experimented with, and how much experience in the field i do have, but not actually used for any professional or commercial use nevertheless any educational benefit. For a long time i have experimented with different VST synthesizers such as the good old Nexus back when Fruity Loops was easily accessible due to the torrent craze back in the day. As the future develops it becomes much harder to get things this way, although maybe i am getting more mature and i actually feel inclined to pay for my software now? Good job Apple.

All this aside, my progression through these different VST's led me to something i feel is comfortable and reliable. I felt inclined to purchase this software as one of my greatest inspirations as an artist is Joel Zimmerman (Deadmau5). Watching his sound design using this software really did evoke a lot of awe and inspiration, knowing how second nature he was using this software to really grasp onto the specific sound he was after. Serum is a VST (developed by XferRecords) that really does help from the base up develop a sound, and develop if and so you wish into an armada of complexity that really gives it (for me) a seat up on the highest modulator scale. From the two oscillators, you can use in conjunction to one another, to the 3 envelope tools and 3 LFO tools you can simultaneously link any desirable modulation.. There is so much to this VST i could go into and I feel this is the VST will pay dividend in my future studies in this field.
