Creating Robot Movements

Okay, so after digging into some sound libraries and doing some recording myself i built up a palette of sounds that aesthetically stuck out to me in terms of certain characteristics that each individual sound brought to the table. I recorded some of the sounds using my car (car window and car unlock) to achieve some nice sounds that i used to layer into other samples. The use of layering is something i have learned the importance of from the past projects i have done, especially when it comes to mechanical sounds that requires different elements. I decided to layer my car unlock with some low end booms to really emphasise the robots foot movements, and these layers really seem to compliment each-other, as there is nice mid/high content mixed in with some nice low characteristics. I have been experimenting more with the perception and movement of sound through spaces (such as the woods), and have used automation to achieve movements away and towards the viewer to create a more immersive feeling instead of a monotonous sounding stomp. I have also used slight automation on the wet/dry signal from the reverb to control the distance of the robot, as of which i think translates well. I am yet to experiment with slight equalisation to achieve this more so and will be making a note of this to return back to it at a later date. I have been looking more into convolution reverbs to get a reverb that would suit the outside woods although i will have to wait to purchase this at a date sometime in the future. The robots footsteps have been sent to a separate auxiliary send with an automatable send as of when i need to send the footsteps to a different area with a different sound texture such as the wooden log in the next scene. This ensures that i am not making countless number of tracks to achieve the same thing and is being conservative on the track count, also saving time and energy. Below is video as of what the robot sounds like in the visual and also representation of how the automation is acting.
