Over the past few months since breaking up for summer I have been keeping myself busy with sound related projects. This has involved recording dialogue for 2 short films and 1 feature film, of which have been pretty intensive at times due to the shoots long schedules and taking place day after day. I have also mixed 2 short films, engaged with sound design for 1 and been the dialogue editor for the other. I have also been engaging with sound design and have worked on the sound design remake for a film that captivated me called 'Annihalation'. Ben Salisbury's take on the sound design for this film was what motivated me to try and figure out the intricacies behind the sounds he uses in the film. The scene I decided to try and embark on was the alien scene towards the end of the film, of which I shall post the video and explain further the difficulties I encountered along the way.

I am wanting to further my knowledge more in sound design, and more geared towards sounds for games, as I believe this is where my interests best lie at the moment. This was something I initially wanted to get involved with from first year but became disheartened by the difficulty surrounding the middleware such as Wwise. I have recently paid to enrol onto a game audio course that will teach me the fundamentals of this middleware and will allow me to further build my knowledge in this field. I am hoping to further build up a reputable show-reel that will allow me to become employable in this field by the end of the year.

For now i just need to work on ensuring i have the best start to third year by making sure to keep myself busy and keep the motivation to carry on doing what I'm doing. My goal is to have enough content for my honours and portfolio development and have a strong dissertation structure for when I start back.
